Description

4-Chloro benzhydryl piperazine is the alkylation product of 4-chloro benzhydryl chloride and piperazine. The remaining secondary amine on the piperazine ring is N-alkylated with chloroacetic acid derivatives to install the carboxymethoxy ethyl side chain of cetirizine.
